Gates / Access Control
Beautiful - Safe - Secure

Residential gate operators range from lightweight parking system tilt-arm gates for apartments and condominium to single swing, double swing and slide gates for the same type of complexes, residential communities, private residences and personal estates. The proper integration of the fence system, gate and gate operator needs to be well planned.
There are a variety of operators available for swing gates and slide gates using hydraulic arms, linear actuators or screw drive operators, and all of them can open and close a gate, but when considering or specifying an operator, make sure it is suitable for the gate —some gates are light, some are heavy, so motor strength and drive mechanism must be considered.
Swing gates, which are designed to open and close by swinging in or out, are operated by mechanical and hydraulic arms and chain drives. Slide gates, which either slide on wheels or in tracks, are generally opened and closed with a chain and gear operator.
Cantilever gates are supported on one end and are usually counter balanced for ease of handling.
Swing Gates
Swing gates are available in double or single drive applications, but double swing gates require two gate operators, one for each side, which can be more costly than a cantilever or rolling gate.
Rolling Gates
Rolling gates are generally found in the southern United States, and use wheels to support their weight on a V-track embedded in the driveway.
Cantilever Gates
Cantilever gates use a counter balance load bearing design to support the entire weight of the gate as it reaches across the entryway. This keeps the end up off the ground so that it can better penetrate accumulated snow.
Access Control
Today's residential access control technology allows gate operators to be controlled by digital key pads, card readers, keys, telephone entry system or radio technology commonly found in automated garage door openers.
Residential access control has become more and more sophisticated as new technologies have emerged and offer added residential security and improved access control.
Barcode readers can scan decals up to 6' away on vehicles moving up to 25 mph and don't require drivers to open car windows. More sophisticated models are able to track who entered and who went out for added security. These readers better survive the weather and are generally more protected from vandalism than the old slot readers.
They are also a step up from the old radio controlled "clickers' that would get stuck and were expensive to replace. Today, the technology is hands free.
